For the believer who can date every miracle he trusts and cannot name one inside his own lifetime.
Which number on that page is the one that actually unsettles you?
There are two columns of measurements, taken before and after, with a journal name printed underneath them. There is a reference code that would send any careful reader straight back to the published record. None of it shouts. Nobody is asking you to set your judgment aside, and nobody has dimmed the lights.
Then your eye reaches the year, and your hand stops moving down the page.
You have never argued with the healings in the Gospels. You believe the sea opened, you believe the blind man went home seeing, and you would defend both at any table in your congregation. Those accounts sit safely inside a book you honor. A date inside your own lifetime doesn't sit anywhere safe at all, because you were alive that year, and you can remember exactly what you were doing.
The year printed beside a measurement has no authority to tell you who Jesus is now. Put plainly: a calendar can date a page, and it cannot date a Person. Scripture puts His name outside the reach of any calendar, and the Holy Spirit is not waiting for a better date before He comes near anybody.

Why the Date Is the Hard Part
It would be easier if your trouble were the measurements. Measurements can be checked, questioned, repeated, and argued over calmly at a table.
Your trouble isn't the measurement. It's the calendar. Somewhere along the way you built a wall inside your faith, and the wall runs right down the middle of your Bible's last page. Everything before it is bright and settled. Everything after it went into a room you keep furnished with caution, disappointment, and one respectable sentence that sounds like reverence.
The sentence is short. God could, of course. You have said it kindly a hundred times, and every time you said it, the door in that wall closed another inch.
Nobody heard it close. That is what makes this so lonely, and it is why you have never said any of this out loud to another believer.
You can tell how old that wall is by how smoothly you steer the subject when somebody at church mentions a recent healing. The move is gentle, kind, almost invisible, and you have practiced it for so many years that it happens before you have decided to do it.
Your caution is not the problem, and God has never asked you to trade it for noise. Scripture tells you to test what you hear, and the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth rather than the spirit of hurry.
Careful Readers Are Welcome Here
There is a picture of faith that asks you to stop thinking at the door, and you have met it, and it never fit you.
Here is the older picture instead. In Berea, people heard something new from Paul and went home to compare it against what was already written. Luke does not scold them for that. He calls them noble for it.
These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.Acts 17:11 (KJV)
Readiness of mind and a daily search sit together in one sentence there, with no strain at all between them. They received eagerly, they searched daily, and nobody in that room was asked to choose between an open hand and an open book.
That matters more than it looks, because you have been handed the opposite arrangement somewhere along the way. Believe warmly or think clearly, and pick one of the two, as though the two could never sit together. Luke doesn't offer the Bereans that choice, and no sentence in the New Testament asks you to make it either.
A careful mind belongs in God's presence, not out in the hall waiting to be trusted. Scripture hands the testing to you rather than taking it away, and the Holy Spirit leads a slow reader into truth without ever shaming the slowness.
Where the Record Stops Talking
A report can describe a group of people. It cannot describe your week, and it was never built to.
It can't explain the prayer you prayed for your mother that came back quiet. It can't be laid against your body like a ruler. It can't turn somebody else's improvement into a debt that you now carry. Those limits are not a weakness in the record. They are a protection, and the protection is yours to keep.
When a record only says what it actually knows, you get to stay a person rather than a case somebody argues over at a conference. Nobody is given permission to weigh you. Nobody gets to read your ongoing pain as a verdict on how you pray.
You have been carrying this on your own for a long time now, and nobody ever offered to carry it with you. Whatever else this page does with your evening, it will not hand you a bill for a result that never arrived at your door.
You are not evidence and you are not an exhibit, whatever any page reports. Scripture names you as Christ's own, and the Holy Spirit guards your dignity while every outcome stays where it belongs, with God.
A Calendar Cannot Date a Person
Here is the turn, and it is quieter than a debate.
That report is not the ground you stand on. It does one small thing and nothing more. It stops your caution from telling you that nothing has happened inside your own lifetime.
> Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. > Hebrews 13:8 (KJV)
Read where today sits in that verse. Yesterday is on one side of the name, for ever is on the other, and today is holding the middle. Nobody had to prove today into that sentence. It was written there long before any instrument was carried into Mozambique.
What that wall protected was never your theology. It kept you from asking for something in the present tense and then watching the room stay quiet afterward, which is a real and reasonable fear that nothing on this page is going to mock.
So the wall in your faith was never holding the roof up. It was a habit, built by disappointment and held in place by good manners, and no page of measurements put it there.
You live under the same Christ today, and not at a safe distance from His yesterday. The written Word says His unchanging life over your actual week, and the Holy Spirit keeps that door open without pushing one result through it.
Declare this over yourself
You are in Christ and Christ is in you, so what follows is not a claim made out of your own authority. It is agreement, said back to God in His own words, while the Holy Spirit carries it. How He orders the rest of it is His to decide, and He answers in His own way and in His own time.
Nothing below is a finding you have to defend. You belong to Christ because He put you there, not because your reading held up under checking, and no printed year changes that. Speak the lines with your hand open and your caution still sitting where it always sits. They tell God nothing about what to do next.
I am not living in the wrong century, whatever year is printed beside those two columns of measurements. Scripture says that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever, and that name is not dated by the calendar on my kitchen wall or by the lifetime I happen to be standing in. I take down the wall I built between what He did and what He does, because the Holy Spirit has never once asked me to keep it standing. My careful mind comes with me, and it is welcome here. I am not a case to be argued about, and my pain is nobody's verdict on me. I stop closing the question early, with one hand resting empty on my knee under a calendar that dates nothing about Him, and what happens next is His to say and not mine.
